REED BAR REVIEW OUTLINES?

Take it from a former student of this guy. Stay way. Far far away from this guy. Much better resources out there.

Run, can you give a few reasons? He is licensed in 20+ jurisdictions and he is known to take the MBE almost everytime its administered.

I'm going to take the IL Bar in Februay (passed NY) and I am seriously considering taking the Reed course. He seems pretty knowledgable from his YouTube videos. I'm still on the fence so can you explain what was wrong with him? Also, who do you recommend instead for IL prep?

MBE RAW score with the Colonel. july 2010 = 127, Feb 2011 = 123,
MBE SCALED score with Kaplan PMBR for july 2011 = 150. (state only gives scaled score for passing exams.)

His mnemonics are only good for the basic rules and major exceptions. i.e. about 1 in 4 questions at best. His study questions are old. Says he updates but I don't think so.

Just because he has a photographic memory and years of experience taking the bar does not make him a good bar prep.

says he gives one-on-one tutoring time. = basically means you schedule a phone call apt with him. usually ends up calling you an hour after your scheduled time and talks for 10-15. tells you "you can do it" and "work more problems under time conditions."

his audio lectures are him reading the barbri convisor outline. Honest to Gosh truth. I followed along with my friends books.

His handouts are dumbed down versions of the barbri in class lectures.

I find it funny he does nothing but bag barbri but blatantly steals from.

overall all failed twice with him. Passed with Kaplan.

Ummm... its questionable you even took the bar review with Hugh... doesn't look like you did. I took the bar with him and passed with over a 700 score for the Texas bar exam.

He taught me how to properly organize my essays. (My essay was chosen as a model essay answer thanks to this technique.)
He taught me the difference between an A answer and a B answer and what it takes to get the A.
He taught me how to answer multiple choice questions and different tricks for the mbe's that barbri never taught me. (Quickly and efficiently) (my mbe score after barbri mbe was 102 scaled, my mbe score after Reed Bar was 139 scaled).
His materials were nothing like barbri's, it was focused on the most tested areas of the bar.
His tutorials were on the phone, but he guided me while going over mbe questions and essays, and showed me exactly what I was doing wrong. He graded my essays and and was prompt about returning the grades and having me correct where I messed up.
He started my studies 3 months ahead of time where barbri was 6 weeks... he alots 5 months, but I found him after I learned I failed the bar.

He taught me how to properly take the exam, not just regurgitate material. He teaches timing, focus, and reestablishing your foundation. In other words, he strengthens your gut feeling so that when you don't know the answer but have a gut feeling about one, it WILL BE RIGHT!

I constantly recommend him because I honestly believe in his core methods.

I love Hugh to death, and with my greatest heart thank him for helping me become what I've always wanted to be, an attorney!

I'm going to guess that these people responding on behalf of Hugh are likely either employees of ReedBarReview or Hugh himself...

C'mon guys, can we get some updated review comments on the Colonel?

I have not rec'ed my scores as of yet. TIME WILL TELL IF THIS BAR REVIEW IS GOOD OR NOT.WAITING TO SEE.

He is not a real tutor
its an online mass market for money gimmick to him
its his JOB to do it in bulk

He doesn't care about you, its just a fact

why would you use this guy's stuff? he's been sued and lost for copying shit from other materials. If you are interested, read APL v. Reed

I've seen him in action. He would call his students "idiots" and when a paying student called him with questions, he grunted, rolled his eyes, answers the call and gave them a few minutes. He then hung up and called them stupid. Seemed to throw a lot money around. He's been sued for a million for copyright infringement.

I had the same experience. I did Kaplan and failed. BarBri was given to me for free because I was a rep at my law school. Did Barbri in conjunction with Reed Law review. It was too much. Barbri's essay prep is nonsense. The MBE is the most crucial part of the exam and Reed does a good job making sure your prepped for that portion of the exam. Then once you have the hardest part of the exam down pat, you start studying the essays - that's Reeds approach. The essays are given on the second day of the exam in texas and I dominated all of them with reeds approach. Kaplan failed me on the essays in Texas. 127 MBE with Kaplan. 151 MBE with reed. 92% percentile Bar exam score.

This is an absolute lie. Took his course for Texas and he was immensely helpful. You determine your own success no the Bar exam. Reed provides the strategy. His strategy worked for me, but had to grind it out myself.

Not an employee of ReedBarReview. I took the Texas Bar exam and passed. His approach is the best one out there. I've taken Kaplan and failed. I've heard good things about Hugh Reed.

Do you have his MBE outlines? Being a repeater for the CBX has become a financial burden.

He didn't offer THEM money, he wanted it for FREE from YOU, thus would not have been a financial risk for HIM (I assume him since all the her's I know just have daddy pay for it)

If it's just his job then it's no worse than a day of docreview hell or whatever else we all respectively do to keep our toilets flushing . I wonder why the for sl licenses though? Those renewals and varying continuing education have to be an expensive pain. Is it just for marketing ? Is prep all he does?

I just went to his site. It now says 30 exams. Guy likes exams I guess.

Used him for the July 09 AZ exam after flunking MA July 2005 exam using Barbri. No comparison. Hugh got me through it. I had to do the work, but Hugh was the guide. Passed with like 40 points to spare. I'm an attorney now because I worked with Hugh. You figure it out.
